Metcalf & Eddy is helping Electronics System Command comply with NEPA regulations during the worldwide implementation of a capital investment plan that involves new radar facilities and related digital air traffic control equipment.
M&E’s primary responsibility is to prepare the environmental assessments and other NEPA documentation required for siting the facilities. The environmental concerns include land use, noise, traffic, air quality, wetlands, rare and endangered species and habitat, floodplains, electromagnetic radiation, historic resources, water quality, hazardous waste, and socioeconomic impacts (including environmental justice).
Mitigation measures for eliminating or minimizing potential environmental impacts are being identified, as are local, state, federal, and base permit and approval requirements, including stormwater management and coastal zone consistency.
Metcalf & Eddy specialists are collecting available information and conducting baseline surveys to provide a basis for impact analysis. GIS is used extensively in mapping baseline data on land use, utilities, and resource areas. |
