Design-Build-Operate Services for Forsyth County Advanced Water Reclamation Facility

Client: Forsyth County, Georgia
| The project was designed and constructed on an 18-month fast-track schedule and is being operated under a 20-year contract. The new facilities include a 2.5-mgd water reclamation plant, 10 miles of 20-inch reclamation pipelines, and a 180-acre drip irrigation disposal system.
The advanced treatment facility is one of the nation's largest to incorporate the innovative membrane bioreactor process, which uses ultrafiltration membranes instead of clarifiers and filters to produce a superior quality reclaimed water. The membrane bioreactor process was selected because it provides a positive barrier to suspended solids and 100 percent reliable treatment for the wastewater. This would make possible future discharge into the watershed for Lake Lanier, the potable water supply for the Atlanta metropolitan area.
