Construction Services & Management

Metcalf & Eddy assignments in various phases of construction typically reach hundreds of millions of dollars annually. The firm provides expert personnel and well-established manuals, forms and procedures for every aspect of the construction process.

Our construction services department is led by experienced construction managers responsible for directing project construction, and supervising sub-contractors, field staff, inspectors and resident representatives. They manage project scheduling and coordination, contract administration, budget control, record keeping, inspection, and related services including design review and value engineering.

The field staff oversees testing and inspection procedures, record keeping, shop drawings, changes, extra work and claims, and manages communications and relations with sub-contractors, owners, and federal and state agencies. Their extensive experience in such areas as foundations, instrumentation and mechanical systems provides important assistance to construction managers.

M&E stresses safety on every construction site and assigns a full-time safety officer, supported by the regional health and safety manager, to each project. The safety officer is responsible for training, inspecting, conducting incident investigations, record-keeping, hazard evaluations and control measures, and ensures that every employee on-site has completed 10 hours of OSHA construction safety training in addition to site-specific training.
